It’s Official! (sort of)

We took the big step… finally booked the first flights.

We’re starting out by using up our Continental United miles (and good riddance!).  That meant fighting the unstable Mileage Plus (as in, plus aggravation) website, and spending five and half hours on the phone with 6 different agents over the course of the day.  But just 10 minutes before midnight, 2 hours and 48 minutes into the final phone call, we had tickets!

We’re starting with 5 days in Palau and 7 in Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia, and then on to Tokyo.

These islands are in the middle of nowhere.  This first two week segment will take 12 (!) flights, two red eyes, and overnights in both the SFO and Guam airports.

We’re Going for real!

(So why only sort of official?  Because we haven’t told work or school yet…)

Wait... do they have figs in Micronesia?

Wait… do they have figs in Micronesia?

  1. Now we’ve told school and work and it really is official! We just gave 2 weeks’ notice at work.

We spoke with the kids’ school principal earlier. He was very cool about everything. He even said he’s coming with us. Aaron didn’t know what to think about that.

    • Thanks! It’s coming down to the wire now… so much left to do. But once they close the door on the plane tomorrow it’s all smiles…
